School Days

All of our Beach Schools activities tie in with the national curriculum and OFSTED Outdoor Learning best practice. We have adaptable lesson plans for Key Stage I and II and bespoke lessons for pupils up to aged 16. We work closely with teachers to make sure that they get the best outcomes and to tie in with what they are already doing in the classroom. So, if you are little and studying pirates and mermaids then we can find you a few of those – and maybe a treasure chest! And if you are bigger and finding out that geology rocks then come along for a practical. Don’t forget we also have an option for you to have a surf lesson too.

There is nothing better than a day on the beach so why not join us for a bit of fun and learning all in one. We take groups of up to 15 for shoreline safaris, den building, scavenger hunts, firemaking and cooking while learning about the beautiful coastal environment that you are in. We also cover beach safety, learning about the tides and the creatures that live in our salty classroom.Every day is different and we can put together special plans if you want to help to make your Beach School day a memory you’ll never forget. We are shoreline based and don’t go in the water but our partners Discovery Surf do – so let us know and we can build a surf into the session.

A birthday party on a beach is the dream of many a little budding pirate or pirates and we’re happy to help! We offer Beach Schools days with an extra smattering of imagination, games, seashells and marshmallows. Plus whatever surprises you want your little ones to have – we’re pretty experienced at plotting and parties. We take groups of up to twenty with parent helpers, so give us a shout and let’s see what we can cook up for you. Don’t forget that we don’t go in the water but if you do want a surf we can arrange that through our award-winning partners Discovery Surf.

What people say about us! pagetitle

“Learning outside of the classroom and connecting with the local environment greatly benefits children’s learning and complements the work that they do in school. Research carried out by ourselves and partners in the south west currently is adding to the mounting evidence of the health and well-being benefits of engaging with the marine environment. From reducing stress and improving concentration to helping children with ADHD and other learning difficulties, there are potentially no limits to the power of a prescription of “a bit of sea time”.
“Beach Schools children will be our coastline’s biggest advocates and protectors in the future, they will be passionate and not only that will seek out this wonderful place of wildness to seek their solace and to sooth their own souls and spirits as they will be able to recreate fond memories of well-being and relationship and affection.” Sarah Blackwell, Archimedes Training
